chocolate croissant pudding

Ingredients

  • 2 frozen croissants, thawed
  • 1/2 x 200g block dark cooking chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • Strawberries to decorate

Hot Chocolate Sauce

  • 200g block dark cooking chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup cream

Method

1 Grease six ovenproof dishes (3/4-cup capacity). Place dishes onto an oven tray.

2 Cut each croissants into three slices. Place one slice of croissant into each prepared dish and top with chocolate.

3 Whisk eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl until combined. Pour over chocolate in dishes and stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

4 Cook in a moderate oven (180C) for about 30 minutes or until puddings are just set and golden brown.

5 Meanwhile, to make hot chocolate sauce, place chocolate and cream into a small saucepan. Stir over a low heat until chocolate is melted and mixture is combined.

6 Serve hot puddings with hot chocolate sauce and strawberries.
